Monos (Monkeys)
This movie, directed by Brazilian Alejandro Landes, tells the story of a group of eight young guerrillas who call themselves “Monos” and are tasked with guarding an American hostage known as “The Doctor” on a mountain in Latin America. Premiering in 2022, “Palpito” tells the story of Simon, a man seeking revenge after his wife is killed for her heart, which is then transplanted into the wife of a powerful businessman. In his quest for justice, Simón meets Camila, the woman who received his wife’s heart, and together they uncover the dark organ trafficking network behind the crime. The series has two seasons, with 14 episodes in the first and 10 in the second. Although the ending suggests a continuation, a third season has yet to be confirmed.
La Primera Vez (Eva Lasting)
Set in 1976, this series follows Camilo, a teenager who attends the all-boys Jose Maria Root District School in Bogota. The arrival of Eva Samper, the first girl to be admitted to the school, disrupts the lives of the students, who begin to see the world from new perspectives. The series has two seasons, with 13 episodes in the first and 10 in the second, and a third season is expected.
Secuestro al Vuelo 601 (The Hijacking of Flight 601)
This six-episode miniseries is based on the true story of an airplane hijacking in Colombia. The plot follows two flight attendants who try to outwit their captors during tense negotiations both in the air and on the ground. The hijackers demand the release of 50 political prisoners and a large sum of money. The series premiered in April 2024.
Distrito Salvaje (Wild District)
“Distrito Salvaje” follows the story of Jhon Jeiver (played by Juan Pablo Raba), a former guerrilla fighter who, after the signing of the Peace Treaty in Colombia, tries to reintegrate into society in Bogota. As he attempts to reconnect with his family, he becomes entangled in a web of crime and corruption, facing a moral dilemma about which side of the law to follow. The series has two seasons, each with 10 episodes.
