William D This is absolutely one of the worst films I have ever seen. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/07/23 Full Review Henry B While this lacks some of the endearing character development of an "Indiana Jones" film, the locations and images of the Amazonian tribes are astounding and the film's pacing is perfect. Also, the film plays more or less like a dream sequence and the acting of Donald Pleasence, Robert Vaughn and Herbert Lom is spot-on (as usual). This is definitely worth a look for action adventure fans. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/27/23 Full Review Michael R DUDE !I'm always down forn Dudikoff flick! Along with some big wigs, Donald Pleasence, Robert Lom, McQueen, Vaughn, etc. It was a pretty fun ride I thought. Cool action! great characters Kinda had a unique noir flare to it. Sort of a Raiders of The Lost Ark rip off or maybe even a King Solomons Mines type rip off which Lom is also in I believe. Worth a watch for sure. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/22 Full Review Audience Member It's not exactly a happy movie.... it's a little depressing, ok quite a lot, but the good news is it makes you really appreciate good movies. Poor Alastair Maclean I bet he hated this. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Michael Dudikoff kind of does the Indiana Jones thing in Cannon's adaptation of Alistair MacLean's novel. Dudikoff leads a doctor and his daughter deep into the Amazon to find the source of a deadly plague. They are attacked by hostile natives. The doctor is killed, Dudikoff escapes, but without the young woman. Making his way back to civilization, Dudikoff is determined to travel back to the tribe's village and rescue the girl. He gets an expedition going thanks to a wealthy German (Donald Pleasence), but his motives turn out to be not exactly benign. With a plot involving cannibals and Nazi experiments, this seems more fitting as an Italian outing or at least a cheap Franco film. Cannon's attempt to fit this into the cycle of Raiders rip-offs results in the exploitation elements being a little too soft sold. However, although Dudikoff is never a thrilling screen presence, he's backed by a group of solid character veterans ... besides Pleasence, Herbert Lom, L.Q. Jones and Robert Vaughan show up ... so this film manages to be a fairly entertaining lark. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Although it's an aging bunch, there's quite a few big names in this film adaptation of a Alistair Maclean adventure. Sadly it's a terrible screen version that comes across in film terms as a very poor man's Boys from Brazil. Although this is an unfair description the direction is poor and this is the real problem, which is a shame as the novelist is a good writer with previous proven big screen success.
