Die Jungfrauen von Bumshausen
Directed by Hans Billian
Synopsis
He was 'best man' before, during and after the wedding...
Legend has it that a brisk wind called the "Faun" delivers vigor to the men of Falklenhousen - accounting for the town's satisfied wives and high birth rate. Truth is, when the men are away, their voluptuous wives play!

Review by Nathaniel Thompson ★★★
Prototypical '70s Bavarian sex comedy about a mountain village where the high pregnancy rate causes all sorts of silly confusion. Tons of skin, silly gags, and a lively Gert Wilden score are enough to make this one worth a look, plus it's gorgeous to look at on the new German Blu-ray. mondo-digital.com/runvirgin.html

Review by Moronic Inferno ★★½
German sexploitation farce, lightweight to a fault. The women in a Bavarian village go wild sexuallywhenever a wind blows from the southwest. Major aphrodisiac, apparently. A local stud is making the rounds and getting them pregnant. Screwballsexkomödie isn’t my cup of tea (or stein of beer), but there are some pretty ladies in the cast. The cheerful score is by Gert Wilden.

Review by Binder_Palogi ★★

Review by Markus Nowak ★½
Pretty boring softcore stuff in the "Lederhosen" vein. In a small village the "wind from the mountains" makes the old farts (all mysteriously married to hot young wives) fertile enough that the town applies for state money for the "most fertile town in the county". But the men don't know that the "magic wind" is actually young Michael who bangs all married wifes while their husbands are taking walks to soak up the power of the wind. When Michael falls in love with the mayor's daughter and she insists on him stopping his fuck-rounds hilarity - not really - ensues.
Director Hans Bilian made some entertaining "Schlagerfilms" in the 60's and went full hardcore later. This soft romp has some pretty girls but has about enough "story" for a 20 minute sketch. Notable is the participation of later comedian/political satirist Joachim Busse as an artist specialized in nude paintings.

I'm beginning to realise that the Bavarian Sex Comedy is not my cup of tea. Mixing sex with violence is fine, but sex and comedy just seem so uninteresting and ridiculous.
See the ranking of this film and all others I've seen this year here!

Another foreign sex comedy. This is a whole genre and a fine time-waster

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
"Udder-ly" ridiculous, but kinda fun at times...
The wives of a small village have concocted a nature based aphrodisiac in their quest to have babies. This concoction, the faun, is a ruse. While the old husbands go out in search of nature's virility potion, the wives seize the opportunity to bang the towns most eligible bachelor. Babies follow. Dude apparently has that super sperm.
Anyhow, it's just tits and bad jokes. Debauchery has rarely been this tame.

The Bavarian Sex Comedy should come back, à forgotten art form. You’ll never be sad with one of these.

A romp. As a US-based person, a look into what was happening elsewhere in this era as restrictions loosened and boundaries were pushed is always intriguing.
In my limited exploration, each country/ culture seems to have their own style of Sex Comedy. This makes sense, and is the reason why comedy is harder to "sell"/translate globally than action. Here, the women are the pioneers, much more progressive and knowing than the men. The men are clueless, bumbling prudes (please forgive the old "gender binary" framework).
But, again, this is one film from one place. My experience is limited and I do not wish to assume based on one film.
I do prefer the original title, "Die Jungfrauen von Bumshausen." The English one is off the mark in terms of the film contained. But, hey, exploitation films were often titles and posters before the scripts were even written.
