"His cock was a big problem to him. He was horny like hell. There must have been an old Bergman masturbating like crazy in his monastery Fårö... In the center of Swedish cultural elite was an old idiot jerking off like crazy... I can only imagine that he masturbated. It's impossible to think otherwise... Perhaps he had a small seminal vesicle. He might have been waiting for days to have enough sperm for an ejeculation that could even be felt. Poor old man. He means the world to me, that bastard."

I'm not sure I'll ever see something as devastating as watching Michael Haneke react to Ingmar Bergman rating Haneke's THE PIANO TEACHER "four stars, not five" by saying "pity" and wanting to leave the room.
That bit broke my heart.

Francis Ford Coppola!? Wes Anderson?! Woody Allen?! Innaritu?! Alfredson?!
All these amazing directors will be talking about Bergman and their connections with the iconic Swedish director?! Sign me up!
......
It starts with DeNiro. Ok, he's not the greatest interviewee but there must be something interesting with how he sees Bergman, what he has to say about the master... OK, he's talking about the "are you talking to me" scene from Taxi Driver. This must be going somewhere. Oh, now he's talking about King of Comedy. What about Bergman?! Nope, nothing. A question at the end is about what DeNiro would do if Bergman asked him to do a movie. DeNiro says he'd talk about the script and see what…

No One:
Not A Single Soul:
Nobody In This Entire Universe:
Lars Von Trier: Ingmar Bergman beat his meat a lot.

Review by Zan ★★★ 2
Lars Von Trier talking about Ingmar Bergman’s masturbation is easily the best part of the film. Along with Michael Hanake being disappointed about Ingmar Bergman only giving The Piano Teacher a 4/5.

“Bergman’s tremendous impact on the history of cinema sometimes makes him difficult to talk about”
Proof positive watching this rot. Facetious when not trite when not banal.
To think there’s a 300-minute version…

Bergman himself said that “The Seventh Seal” cured his own intense fear of death.

“I wrote so many tribute letters and he didn’t respond, there are so many conversations i’d have liked to have with him and it bothers me. That bastard could have just said “Come up to Fårö, we’ll talk for an hour.” He could have done that and I am angry that he didn’t but i do love him dearly. He means the world to me, that stupid shit.”
And here i am crying with you, Lars.
